Staying In or Stepping Out? Growth Strategies of Second Generation Immigrant Entrepreneurs

Second generation immigrants in developed economies have contributed to the emergence of new areas immigrant business activity, especially information technology and creative industries; however, an understanding their growth strategies is limited. Compared native entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs are more likely human social capital resources needed start international ventures, potentially global firms competing against multinational enterprises. Using case studies, we examine strategies, factors influencing choice, 12 SGIEs South Asian origin UK. Our findings reveal that heterogenous pursuit inward outward internationalization, geographic product-related growth, contingent on start-up context use ties. In linking founder successor SGIEs’ co-ethnic (family non-family) non-co-ethnic ties with product scope these contribute entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship literatures.
